Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Youngstown engages many volunteers on its corporate and advisory boards. The Diocese is grateful to these many men and women who give much of their stewardship of time, talent and treasure as directors and advisors to the Boards of Catholic Charities.

CORPORATE BOARDS

The Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corporation (DOYCCC) is a corporate board which serves as the Member to the various corporate boards of the affiliated agencies of Catholic Charities. The Bishop of the Diocese is the Chairman of the DOYCCC; the Vicar General serves as its Vice Chairman; the Executive Director of Catholic Charities Services serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Corporation; and the Diocesan Director of Social Services serves as President & CEO of the Corporation. These four, along with representatives of each of the five affiliated agencies of Catholic Charities, serve as the Directors of the Corporation. The DOYCCC serves as the Member of the affiliated agencies with certain reserved powers in light of federal, state and canon (ecclesial) law.

Each affiliated agency of The Diocese of Youngstown Catholic Charities Corporation has its own Board of Directors with full legal and fiduciary duties and rights. The five affiliated agencies are: Catholic Charities of Ashtabula County, Catholic Charities of Portage County, Catholic Charities of Stark County, Catholic Charities Regional Agency, and the Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities Corporation (which is a member corporation of Caritas Communities, a joint venture between Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities and the Humility of Mary Housing, Inc.).

Each of the Corporate boards adhere to the Code of Ethics of Catholic Charities USA and The Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Services of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

ADVISORY BOARDS

The Diocesan Catholic Charities Office utilizes its Catholic Charities Advisory Board for advice and consultation in terms of priority setting, general evaluation, and budget recommendations. The Catholic Charities Advisory Board gives advice and counsel to the Bishop through the Executive Director of Catholic Charities Services. Some agencies have program related advisory groups.
