Everyone Loves Men Who Cook

In December 2004, Drs. Jim and Cindy Kravec approached Catholic Charities with a new fundraising concept, "Men Who Cook." The premise of the event is that prominent men in the community are asked to prepare their favorite soup, salad, entree or dessert and serve it hors d'oeuvre style for event guests to sample.  Each chef has the opportunity to convince a panel of female judges, who award trophies in various categories, that his dish is the best.

The popularity of Men Who Cook has multiplied since the event's launch in 2005.  It is not uncommon to hear chefs, judges and guests comment on how much fun they had months after the event.  Men Who Cook provides amateur chefs the opportunity to show off the creativity through the food they prepare, the table decorations they use and the costumes they wear to represent their particular offerings.

Men Who Cook is a refreshing alternative to sit-down dinners.  Guests are encouraged to mill about the room and sample more than 20 different distes.  The fun, relaxed atmosphere welcomes conversation.  So if you are looking for an evengning of food, fun and laughter, check out a Men Who Cook event near your.  For more information, call Shellie Sabel at 330-744-8451 ext. 322

First Step for Change

The 5th Annual First Step for Change will be kicking off this Spring.  Parishes will be receiving information in the mail in the upcoming months regarding the launch date.  Last year this successful event raised over $26,000 to material goods and services to the clients of the First Step programs throughout the diocese.  We know that we will be able to surpass last year through the generosity of the participating parishes.

11th Annual Voice of Hope Dinner

The date has been set!  The 11th Annual Voice of Hope Dinner will be held on October 24, 2008 at Ciminero's Banquet Centre in Niles, Ohio.  This annual event will honor individuals, parishes and institutions across the Diocese that have assist Catholic Charities in providing help and creating hope to individuals in need.  More information will be coming in the next few weeks!
