Catholic Charities - Diocese of Youngstown

Social Action

The Office of Social Action works with parish staff to develop social concerns committees which deal with services, advocacy, housing/neighborhood issues, global affairs, legislative activities, criminal justice/prison ministries, migration and refugee ministries, and other justice and peace initiatives. The Office utilizes the USCCB "Communities of Salt and Light" and "JustFaith" resources to assist parishes to develop social ministries.

The Office of Social Action is the local contact for the following national ministries of the Catholic Church: Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services, Disaster Response, Migration & Refugee Services, Social Development and World Peace, Science and Values. The Office works in close cooperation with the Diocese of Youngstown Office of Marriage, Family and Pro-Life Activities.
